PDF to Word: how it works

  1. Select the PDF (up to 50 pages).
  2. Press “Convert to Word”.
  3. Download the DOCX and open it with Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.

Frequently asked questions

Does it look the same as the PDF?

Not exactly. The conversion aims for text that is comfortable to edit: it keeps paragraphs, headings, bold, tables and images, but does not copy the layout. Text documents come out well; brochures or multi-column designs, less so.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

No. A scan is an image and has no text to extract. You need a PDF created from a program (Word, a website, a digital invoice…).

What happens to tables?

Tables with lines become Word tables. Tables without borders may come out as loose text.

Which program opens it?

Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or Pages. The file is a standard DOCX.

What happens to my files?

They are sent encrypted, processed and discarded when the job is done. PDFya does not store or review them.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no added watermark. There is a limit of 20 MB per file and 30 operations per hour.
